Who are we?

About the Project

Blue4Youth is a youth participation project under Erasmus+ Key Action 154, focused on supporting young people in actively engaging with the European Green Deal, sustainable environmental policy, and the future of the blue economy. The project brings together youth organizations, environmental experts, local authorities, and policy stakeholders in a cooperative platform where young people can learn, discuss, and shape strategies that affect their present and future.

Through a series of non-formal educational actions, Blue4Youth builds awareness about the pressing environmental challenges Europe is facing. It also creates opportunities for youth to propose and present their own solutions. Whether through youth-led podcasts, structured policy dialogues, or startup idea labs, the project equips young people with the tools, knowledge, and networks needed to become climate leaders and ecological innovators.

At its core, Blue4Youth challenges the idea that policymaking is reserved for adults or specialists. It places youth at the center of democratic life and ecological transformation, acknowledging that real sustainability requires the participation of all generations.

What We Aim to Do

  1. Educate and Raise Awareness on EU Environmental Strategies
Blue4Youth is committed to helping young people understand the environmental priorities of the European Union. A central objective is to deepen knowledge of the European Green Deal and its connection to critical areas such as blue growth, climate change, marine biodiversity, and the transition to a circular economy.
  2. Strengthen Youth Participation in Policy-Making
The project creates direct and inclusive channels for young people to engage with policymakers at national and European levels. Through structured dialogues, youth forums, and debate platforms, Blue4Youth supports the expression of youth perspectives in shaping environmental and sustainability policies.
  3. Promote Eco-Innovation and Green Entrepreneurship
Recognizing the potential of youth as innovators, Blue4Youth offers mentoring and learning spaces where young people can develop small-scale solutions and sustainable business models. The project encourages environmentally responsible entrepreneurship as a tool for social inclusion and climate justice.
  4. Inspire Individual and Collective Action
Through educational workshops and creative outreach campaigns, Blue4Youth motivates young people to take meaningful action in their communities. The project emphasizes how everyday choices and grassroots initiatives can contribute to a more sustainable and resilient future for Europe’s oceans and coastal regions.

Our Main Goals

Educate and empower youth on environmental sustainability, the blue economy, and climate action

We provide engaging, accessible learning experiences that deepen young people’s understanding of the European Green Deal, blue economy strategies, and sustainability goals. Participants develop the knowledge and confidence to critically engage with climate issues and take informed action in their communities.

Engage youth directly with national and EU policymakers through structured dialogue and debate

Blue4Youth creates meaningful spaces for young people to interact with decision-makers through roundtables, consultations, and policy hackathons. These experiences ensure that youth are not just observers but active contributors to policy shaping, especially in areas impacting the marine environment and climate justice.

Promote youth-led innovation and eco-entrepreneurship
We support young people in designing small-scale, sustainable solutions for environmental and ocean-related challenges. Through hands-on labs, mentoring, and collaborative tools, youth are empowered to turn their ideas into action and explore entrepreneurship as a force for climate resilience.

Strengthen civic engagement and leadership among marginalized and coastal youth
Blue4Youth prioritizes inclusion by involving young people from coastal, rural, and underserved communities. Through capacity-building activities and mentorship, we aim to ensure that all youth, regardless of background, can shape a sustainable future and claim space in democratic life.

Raise awareness on climate change and marine protection through creative youth-led media

From podcasts to public events, we amplify youth voices on environmental issues through innovative communication platforms. These initiatives promote awareness, challenge disconnection from nature, and spark broader conversations about Europe’s transition to a sustainable blue economy.

Our Vision

Blue4Youth envisions a future where youth are recognized as equal stakeholders in shaping environmental and sustainability policy. In this future, young people are not only educated about climate change and biodiversity loss but also supported in developing real solutions.

The project sees the blue economy not just as an economic concept, but as a pathway toward a resilient, fair, and ecologically sound Europe. It calls for action that is grounded in democracy, collaboration, and shared responsibility. Blue4Youth stands for a Europe where decisions are made inclusively, where environmental standards are not just high but equitable, and where youth have the power, tools, and platforms to shape the direction of that future.
